How Employee Training During Cloud Deployment Can Create Competitive Advantages

To move forward for organizations facing technological disruption, transformation and increased competition is to embrace the cloud. Maximizing your cloud’s true potential can only be achieved if applicable training is offered to your employees.

A global survey of 5,000 companies across 18 industries indicates that 34% of the organizations surveyed have provided an effective, role-based training program to employees during cloud deployment resulting in transformational progress in their businesses.

Employees are the key stakeholders in all organizations. Employee development in areas such as project management, enterprise architecture, technical skills improvement and security & compliance protocols furthers successful cloud adoption while enabling organizations to move ahead of their competition.

The benefits of effective role-based training include:

  • Increased employee productivity and potential
  • Consistent performance
  • Improved quality of service and products
  • Reduced supervision
  • Greater employee satisfaction

The survey also indicates that the 66% of organizations surveyed which have provided effective communication and training sessions during cloud deployments have seen significant cost reductions.

Most organizations recognize that providing employees with role-based, cloud-related training will enhance operational performance and provide support in achieving targets. While it’s difficult to estimate the loss in business when training is neglected, training is the single most effective way to create awareness regarding the benefits of cloud adoption. It’s important to note that almost all service providers help with staff training. This can include but is not limited to awareness training, role-based training and various customized training exercises that are either offered online or in-person with a professional trainer.

Once an organization starts on a cloud journey, it should promote engagement, create awareness and train all impacted stakeholders to gain the desired outcomes. The only distinction between organizations that were successful post-adoption and those that were disappointed was how they approached the skills-gap issue.

Cloud deployment offers significant benefits that can be further maximized with proper training of employees, creating gains in the form of increased savings, better IT services, and a higher level of reliability.
